This graduate-level course provides an in-depth exploration of the Horn of Africa, covering Ethiopia, Somalia, Eritrea, Djibouti, Sudan, South Sudan, and Kenya. It examines the region’s historical evolution, focusing on early state formation, the influence of Islam, and the impact of Western colonialism on current political and social structures.
Students will engage in multidisciplinary analysis of contemporary issues such as governance, conflict, migration, economic development, and environmental challenges, with a focus on how global powers and regional organizations shape the Horn’s strategic importance.
By critically analyzing key themes through political science, international relations, economics, and anthropology, students will gain a nuanced understanding of the region’s complexities, equipping them with the skills to contribute to scholarly and policy discussions on the Horn of Africa’s future.

Ortadoğu Vakfı, Ortadoğu ile ilgili sosyal, ekonomik, kültürel, siyasi ve diğer alanlarda faaliyetler yürütmek ve çalışmaları desteklemek amacı ile 2015 yılında Ankara’da kurulmuştur.
